injury + transport

injury + transportation policy

It is extremely important that all members read this information carefully. You could get hurt at any time no matter what your skill level or activity. You are responsible for knowing and understanding the following information.

All members are required to accept and sign or acknowledge electronically a WAIVER upon registration absolving the club and SSMU of all responsibility for any injury, howsoever arising, sustained during any of our events. If you are taken to the facility’s first aid station or other office, please inform them that you are from our club. They will contact the SSMU SSC executive member.  That person will have your emergency contact information which you provided upon registration. The executive(s) need to be informed should you be required to leave the facility at any time for bus transportation or other reasons.

Things to bring on every trip:

  • Health card or health insurance card/ extended health insurance company policy/phone number
This is extremely important to have on your person at all times. SSMU SSC will not be liable for payment of any medical or other emergency treatment or ski patrol costs. It is the member’s responsibility to ensure they have sufficient health insurance and/or  means to pay the above costs before participating in any SSMU SSC events.

  • Credit Card, debit card, or extra cash
If your injury requires transportation by ski patrol or in an ambulance to a hospital, you will solely be responsible for such transportation costs and you acknowledge and agree SSMU SSC shall not be responsible nor required to pay a portion or all such costs.  Please be aware that you should always have sufficient emergency funds (cash, debit or credit card) available for treatment or transportation costs.

  • Emergency Contact and Medical Information
You must always carry this information on your person, including emergency/next of kin contact information and all allergy or medical treatment information.

  • Transportation to Montreal from hospitals/ski resorts
SSMU SSC will not be responsible for providing transportation or paying any transportation costs provided by any ski patrol, ski and snowboard facility, ambulance/EMS  service or hospital, including transportation to and from any facility and hospital or emergency care facility or between  hospitals or facilities and  Montreal.  You agree you will solely be responsible for all such costs incurred. Hence, we advise members to carry with them emergency funds or credit or debit cards.
